The flurry (of activity -- don't even think the 's' word yet) of the past few days was not enough to cause me to forget to put the new permit tag on my Jeep's plate on the right day (my birthday of all things!) even though I'd bought it a week before.
This was, in my opinion, quite a coup. I congratulated myself a few times over the weekend about this feat.
Just to even things out and keep my head from getting too big, was the discussion in Linden's kitchen this afternoon during which she told me something was to take place at a given time, acting very much as though this was a time in the comfortably distant future, while I quietly wondered about this. By my watch this event was just minutes away. Eventually an 'aha!' moment arrived. Just when she'd described an exchange between herself and another person in which the then current time was double checked.
I adjusted my watch accordingly. Only 12 hours late, too. Good thing it wasn't important for me to be somewhere at a particular hour.
Okay, I admit it. I was still a bit hung over and tired the evening before and it slipped my mind that we were supposed to change the clocks early this morning. Important things like this deserve to have public information broadcast things running on the bottom of the TV screen for about 24 hours. Some people rarely read a newspaper and hardly listen to a radio unless they are driving. We could miss stuff like this really easily, you know?
On the plus side again, the Jeep got her oil change right on schedule even though I was feeling some pain. Some things really are important after all!
