Back Again

Exceeding my wildest expectations were the following events over the weekend:

  • Shufflement of various boxes and items impeding movement within the small space here

  • Retrieval of the Sport Utility Trailer, including inflating the tire with the fast slow leak

  • Disassemblage and cartage of the futon frame and mattress out of the apartment and into the storage locker

  • Wranglement (really: by grabbing the plastic bag covering it and pretending I had the reins of a horse in hand) of the fairly floppy queen size mattress out of the storage locker and into the apartment

  • Decouplement and manual trailer repositioning at both ends of this adventure -- I was not up for backing it into the drive here on Parkdale nor into the loading area of the storage locker building

  • Acquisition of peg board (already has holes!) and determination of the cuts needed to minimize waste and number of sheets required

  • Displacement of the files in the super duper cubes into regular old cardboard boxes so the cubes can be the platform support for my mattress

  • Plannification of the placement of cubes and sheets of board to achieve the optimal use of the cubes (four of six will be accessible for storage needs) and utilization of on-hand hardware

I managed to get all but the last two tasks completed before the rain started and escaped the anticipated backlash ( only a little sorry for the pun :-) for doing all the lifting and carrying (and pushing!) on my own. I called a couple of friends but they were out, so it's not like I didn't try to get some help. And I took it pretty slow and easy. Still, I was pleasantly surprised to be feeling not too much the worse for it all the next day. I do believe my activities of recent weeks have been paying off in the muscle development area - yay!

Today I mucked around with a pencil and quad pad and figured out the last item. Managed to spend some time chatting with friends and family as well. Not too bad.

Today started with some sore muscle action that I put down to the past couple of days' physical activity at first. But as the day wore on I realized my tummy was not happy either and that couldn't be in any way attributed to the same source. I've been inching (millimetering?) the many baseboard control knobs trying to stay warm all day, too.

Now I'm thinking I've caught a touch of whatever the weather of the season has caused to be passed around. Bleh. I don't like feeling hungry and having an upset system at the same time. What to do? Eat and risk feeling worse? Not eat and risk feeling more hungry? I settled on yoghurt and a short bit of pronitude.

Still cool in here, though. Even with my wool socks and two layers of shirtage. The air is cold enough to be uncomfortable but warm enough to hold moisture making it feel worse. It will feel better when it gets warmer or colder. That's my theory, anyway.

It's either that or I'm a real wuss when it comes to winter. Actually, I just checked the 14 day forecast for Ottawa and it appears that we are in for some below average temperatures.

If I get a second wind before I crash, I'll get my platform set up to sleep upon tonight. Because cold air sinks.
