That's my post-coffee and squirrel feeding question. (That, and: Does 0° air temperature mean there is no weather?)
The futon is killing my lower back. More accurately, sleeping for as long as I have on the thing is killing my back. I know this now because when I stayed at Eric's overnight a couple of week's ago, my back felt much better thanks to the firmer bed I was allowed to use.
I've responded to two posts on FreeCycle (Ottawa) offering queen bed sets (without the head and foot boards) but haven't been the chosen recipient. Since I've been considering the (eventual) change to living in a home on wheels, it came to mind that with just the addition of the right sort of plywood, I could make do with a platform upon which to place my mattress. I have no queen box spring anymore and not a lot of interest in having one again -- unless I wind up in a house into which such a largish item can be moved without carving it into two parts.
My nomadic existence over the past few years has led to the acquisition of cool, sturdy, safely stackable plastic cubes in which my many files have been stored during and after moves. More densely constructed than the traditional student shelving aka milk crates and in such a number as to be placed in a manner that would support the mattress and myself quite easily.
Here's the first complication with this plan: swapping the futon and frame in the sleeping room with the mattress in storage. That's where today's weather prediction figures in. They are calling for rain in the evening to continue all day tomorrow. I'd rather not be trucking around with my trailer (perfect for such a move as a matter of fact) nor handling largely fabric covered items in the rain.
The second is the maze of shelves and boxes covering a lot of the floor space in the sleeping room and the Other Room (kitchen/office/rabbit house).
I think I can get the swap in and out of storage done before the rain starts. Tomorrow I can gather (by transfering the files into boxes?) the plastic cubes for the base and head to my hobby store (Home Depot) for the plywood. I love them over there: the first three cuts on a piece of lumber are free -- which means I can get the pieces inside the Jeep and move them myself.
Zounds it is a plan. First, the trailer needs to be gotten out of the storage corral before they close at noon. Right. I'm sure my back will thank me after the deed is done.
